The Joluo people, like many farming communities(Oganda mar Joluo kaka oganda moko mapuro), have long recognised(osebedo ka ong'eyo kuom kinde malach) the importance of cultivating strong, healthy crops(ber mar puro cham motegno kendo manigi ngima maber). Long before modern science gave it a name(Chon kane sayans ma nyasani pok omiye nying), they practised what we now call crop cross breeding (ne otim gima sani waluongo ni kiko kodhi)— mixing different plant varieties to create something even better(kiko kido mag yiende mopogore mondo ilosi gimoro maber moloyo).
